Policemen attached to the Bariga police Division Lagos State police command have arrested one Madam Shade Moke and three men John Okpara,
Issac Gboyelade and one
Akinseye at No.2, Odusanya Street in Bariga area of the state over the alleged murder of one Halimot a 17 year old house help.
It was not revealed what the offence the deceased committed for Mrs Moke to allegedly ask Isaac , Akinseye and John to beat her up. It was learnt that the girl died when the men were allegedly beating her up.
Efforts to confirm what was used to beat the deceased cannot be ascertained at the time of filing this report.
A source said " Mrs Moke has left the shop but was called on the phone when the girl fainted. She was rushed to Adeboye hospital and was referred to Maryade specialist hospital at Ilaje, she was from their referred to GBAGADA general hospital where the girl was also confirmed dead. The Bariga police arrested the four perpetrators"
Mrs Moke popularly known as Mama Popular and other suspects however denied the allegation. She added that the parent of the deceased girl was at her burial at Atan cemetery.
A non profit organisation Advocates Children and Vulnerable Persons Network however express fear that Mrs Moke might have bribed the deceased parents to prevent her and the three men from being prosecuted.
One of the advocates said
"The mother of the late Halimot was confirmed to have shown up at the station, the alleged Shade Moke the instructor of beating called her on phone to inform her about the incident and how she was brought to the station. She has pleaded with the mother of the deceased to give her more cash on the matter (inducement) so the so poor mother of the late Halimot is saying that she didn't want to institute any case against the woman Shade Moke aka Iya popular and 3 others. Though she was given some money when her child died the suspect wants to renew the cash to shut her up. Poverty is eating her up"
Expressing dismay over the behaviour of parents who collect bribe to pervert justice, Mr. Ebenezer Omejilile Manager at Advocates For Children and Vulnerable Persons Network said
"The mother should be charged as an accomplice for being so irresponsible. This case should be use as an example to irresponsible parents whose children were killed by cold blooded monsters"
