  He is innocent, says family

Family of detained of Ilemba Hausa Police Station, Masamasa, Lagos  CSP Yahaya Adeshina State,  has faulted police claim, saying that their bread winner is innocent of his alleged crime, and should be freed unconditionally.
Spokesman of the family, Alhaji Isiaka, while describing their son, Chief Superintendent of Police, Yahaya Adesina, as innocent of the alleged crime and that he is a dedicated and decent officer,  he said their son should be absolved of the crime and given a clean bill of health.
Recall that the the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu has ordered the detention of the DPO pending further investigation into the alleged crime.
The CP, through a statement by the state's Police Public Relation Officer, Bala Elkana, said that apart from being in their custody at the state's Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, Lagos, Adesina's" rifle has been seized for forensic examination."
However, investigation showed that as the DPO and the Station Officer (SO) had attempted to disperse the crowd that had gathered infront of his station at about 9:30 pm on Sunday, May 10, pm, on the ground that a curfew  declared by the Federal Government of Nigeria was in force, an unknown gunman allegedly shot into the crowd killing Sgt Onalaja Onajide, who was on guard duty at the station, while the DPO and his SO narrowly escaped death.
The DPO, it was learnt, has continuously expressed his innocence over the unfortunate incidence.
Consequently, his family members have urged Nigerians to prevail on the Police authorities to release their son in the interest of justice.
