Rights Group condemns police for handing back abused, stabbed 12 years old girl to her "tormentor" guardian

A 12 -year- old girl (name withheld) who  was allegedly stabbed in the arm and subjected to varied degree of  cruelty by her guardian , a food vendor, has sadly been  returned to  the abode of  her " abusive" guardian by policemen attached to the Gender Unit Lagos state police command  after she was rescued by spirited Nigerians.

A rights group , Advocates For Children and Vulnerable Persons Network ACVPN who raised the alarm over the plight of the girl said a  mandated reporter who spoke with the girl stated that the girl revealed that it was her aunty( guardian)  that beat and stabbed her .
ACVPN said "According to the mandated reporter she claimed the victim further revealed that her Aunty one  Amaka Chukwudi a food vendor  is in the habit of torturing her by stabbing her at any slightest mistake she made.

The mandated reporter stated  she and other concerned Nigerians took the victim to the   Ago Palace  Way Police Station and the case  was  handled by the Officer in Charge of the  Gender Depart of the Station. The perpetrator was duly arrested  and detained .  She was transferred to the Gender Unit IKEJA Police Command for prosecution however, few days later,  the mandated reporter was very surprised to hear that the perpetrator was not  prosecuted rather the victim was returned to the monstrous wicked woman . The question now is where is the name survivor fit in all of this.?If a division could diligently apprehend such a dangerous child abuser and exploiter , Gender Unit is expected to be the finest but reverse was to this case"

We say A BIG NO to this INJustice because as we all know FORGIVENESS IS A TERRIBLE SIN, Justice must be duly served , where is the Ministry of youth and social Development MYSD ALAUSA IKEJA in all of this ? Or the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs IKEJA?
@ OC Gender IKEJA @ MYSD @ WAPA."

Egbetokun, stopped from being Lagos CP in 2019 , celebrated as he becomes acting IGP in 2023

It was supposed to be a day of change of baton at the Lagos state police command on January 14th 2019 . However, in the presence of journalists invited to cover the then CP Edgal Imohimi's handover to then CP Kayode Egbetokun, an embarrassing drama played out as CP Imohimi who was obviously over himself revealed to the journalists that he was going nowhere as the commissioner of police in Lagos state.
The police authority had  directed Mr Kayode Egbetokun to take over from Imohimi as police commissioner in Lagos while Imohimi was then redeployed to the Force Headquarters in Abuja as the Commissioner of Police in charge of Explosive Ordinances

He Imohimi , however, told the reporters who were at the command headquarters to witness the handover and takeover ceremony between him and Mr Egbetokun that the ceremony would no longer hold.

Mr Imohimi had  stated  that they were in the process of concluding the procedure which began on Monday when they got a signal from the Force Headquarters to maintain status quo.
Mr. Egbetokun was subsequently redeployed to the Kwara State police command. As his destiny, he has been appointed the highest position in the Nigeria Police Force.
The same Egbetokun who was disgraced from the Lagos state police command in 2019 was galantly welcomed to the helm of affairs at the Lious Edet House on Tuesday . A video making the rounds on social media showed over joyed police men , dancing and singing as Acting IGP Egbetokun was celebrated and  welcomed as the new acting Inspector General of Police.

"Otunba Lamina is not involved in the killing of a Police ASP In Imota" -- IPO

The Police Officer assigned to unravel the killing of a police ASP  in the Imota  area of Lagos state earlier  in the year has  debunked allegations  made by one Mr.  Abolore Ogunlana popularly known as Legacy Nation via a YouTube channel that  the Chief Executive Officer of Omolamina Global Ventures Limited (OGL), Otunba Kamorudeen Lamina popularly known as Sir K Oluwo is behind the killing of the said policeman ,  a threat to residents in the Ikorodu area of the state and environs.

A Police Officer Oduntan popularly known as Iku Raymond whom Mr. Abolore, aka Legacy Nation said he got his information about Otunba. Lamina alleged involvement in the killing of the policeman  from in  a telephone conversation, spoke  on record that he got to know about the interview granted by Mr. Abolore when  his friends called his attention to the interview as he wondered why Mr. Abolore is making such spurious allegations against Otunba Lamina and lying that he got his information from him ( Iku Raymond) as he has not spoken to Abolore nor contacted him in any way.

Iku Raymond said he was disappointed in Mr. Abolore aka Legacy Nation who is based in France  because he is not familiar with him (Mr. Abolore ) and the case he was referring to does not have anything to do with Sir K  Oluwo in any way whatsoever.

According to Iku Raymond, the suspects have all confessed their involvement in the killing of the Police ASP at Imota and mentioned those involved, moreover he is not the IPO in charge of the case therefore he wonders why Legacy Nation said he was the one that told him Otunba Lamina is the mastermind of the killing of the police ASP.

The IPO  Inspector Dare Adelaja also debunked the allegations made by Mr. Abolore against Otunba Lamina. Stating that he had not spoken to Mr. Abolore Legacy Nation nor did any of the suspects arrested and charged to court mentioned Otunba Lamina's name as the mastermind of the killing of the police ASP.

A visually irked Otunba Lamina warned Mr. Abolore aka Legacy Nation  to desist from using social media to tarnish his reputation in order to get fans and also trying to buy sympathy for one of his relations , Shakiru Shittu aka Shakki Adamo who is presently in police custody for alleged  stealing and involvement in the murder of the police ASP.

Otunba Lamina who is a well known and respected real estate mogul and business man of repute  in a press conference in his office reacted to Mr. Abolore's allegations.  He   said,"I don't have any connection with the allegation Mr. Abolore Ogunlana aka Legacy Nation levelled against me. I was surprised when people drew my attention to one of his You tube videos allegedly me of being  the killer of a police ASP at Imota.

When people called to inform me about this, I called Legacy Nation on the phone  to ask him the reason he is tarnishing my name on social media but he denied . To my surprise,  he kept on with his You tube shows and Facebook live stream where he continued with more false allegation to stain my image. This is cyber bullying and I am going to take it up legally against him. I want the police to  invite Mr. Abolore Ogunlana also known as  Legacy Nation through Interpol to come and prove his allegation against me . He is presently in France and he thinks he can make false allegations and go scot free? His staying  abroad does not stop the Nigeria Police Force to arrest him because he has not only tarnished my image but that of the police authority. He claimed that I bribed the police not to arrest me in a case that involved the killing of their colleague, is that possible that the police authority will collect a bribe from me and let me walk free, supposedly I killed one of them? If indeed the suspects they arrested mentioned me as the person that sent them  to kill the ASP, will the police let me walk free? You can see Legacy Nation's blatant lies against me. He will be made to face the full wrath of the law. He can run to France and thinks he is untouchable there but he will surely be picked up to prove his allegations very soon".

Asked why Mr. Abolore will make such allegations against him , Otunba Lamina said " Abolore Ogunlana aka Legacy Nation is doing all these to distract the police because he is related to one Shakiru Shittu aka Adamo presently in prison for stealing and his involvement in the killing of a police ASP who was  serving in Imota area . The police ASP was killed  on  April 12th, 2023. It is because of his relative  and the  several petitions I wrote against his friends, Dada Doyin,Eleda,Adura and his relative  Shakki Adamo for threatening me  over property I  legally acquired in  Imota and Ikorodu axis.  They have been terrorising the residents which prompted my petitions against them. Despite my petitions against them, the police were unable to arrest any of them until Shakki Adamo and one Taofeek aka Tiger were arrested after their robbery operation by Imota police Anti-robbery Squad in connection with OPC at Imota.

They confessed their involvement in the killing of the Police ASP at his designated post  at Emuren junction beside Celeb University in Ikorodu. I was not there when they were arrested so why link me to their arrest?".

HOW LAGOS DPO, IPO CHARGED ASSAULT WITH BODILY HARM AS AFFRAY ---- RIGHTS GROUP

A Lagos state police division has been accused of allegedly charging a near death assault case as affray.

A human rights group Advocates For Children and Vulnerable Persons Network ACVPN raised the alarm over the alleged unprofessionalism of the Bariga police station  where one Adelana Blessing 32 of 12, Olowu Street, Bariga was assaulted and thoroughly beaten by her landlord's children over electricity bill.

According to ACVPN, Blessing landed in the  hospital bed where she received treatment for weeks following the beating she received.
A statement by the rights group reads  " ACVPN Officer later met with the DPO and the IPO who promised that Justice will be served but the victim will have to regain her strength and fit to pursue her case. Weeks after both parties were asked to come to the station today 6th June 2023.  Surprisingly the case was charged to Court and the IPO( Investigation Police Officer9  named Bassey stood as the complainant, The IPO charged the case as two fighting when it was clear that five people attacked one person and beat her to a state of stupor.

The victim Adelana Blessing (wife) and Adelana Akeem (husband) are supposed to be the complainant in the case while the perpetrators are MUIBAT ADEYANJU, ALIMOT ADEYANJU, both detained along, while RUKAYAT, KABIRU ADEYANJU and one other are at large..

Currently both perpetrators and Victims have been charged to court, the Victims sister was told to come back tomorrow 7th June 2023 by 9am for the bail bond.
The case was charged to court 1 Magistrate Court Yaba

Mr  Ebenezer Omiejalile the coordinator of ACVPN condemned the activities of the Bariga Police station over the case. He  said " What business has the DCB got to do with this case? It clearly showed how incompetent the so call Dpo is , imagine he left out 3 out of the five perpetrators and used the victim and her husband to replace the other three mentioned to be at large

The so call Dpo should be asked supposing the victim had died would he had charged her corpse and her husband along with the other two?
This nonsense has to stop we know what to do".

Niger College Emerges Winner of the 5th Edition of Gregory Imafidon Foundation Football Tournament

-As sponsor,  Mr. Imafidon calls out Director of Schools Jennifer Asuen for trying to "scuttle" tournament.

Niger College Benin City has emerged the winner of the 5th Edition of Gregory Imafidon Foundation Football tournament for secondary school boys in Edo state.

The prestigious weeklong tournament tagged " Catch them young, kick against crime " sponsored by Mr. Gregory Imafidon, a United States of America based medical practitioner had over twenty three secondary schools in Edo state competing for the gold cup and other consolation prizes.

The well attended finals between Niger College and Edokpolor Grammar School ended 1-1 draw after 90 minutes of play time . Niger College won the gold cup after defeating Edokpolor Grammar school via penalty shoot out which took both schools to playing sudden death.

In the 3rd place, Ogbe secondary school defeated Benin Technical College by one goal to nil to win the bronze medal.

It was a very successful tournament.

Other consolation prizes, cash and scholarships were given to players and schools at the finals of the tournament.

Mr Imafidon who ensures he was physically present during the tournament, in his address at the closing ceremony,he emphasized the needs for all to take school sports seriously as he stated that his passion for engaging the youth positively will discourage them from crime so that they can become useful to themselves and the society.

Mr Imafidon however condemned the attitude of some government officials who wanted to stand as stumbling block against the successful hosting of the tournament this year.

His speech read " Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, you are all welcome to the closing ceremony of the 5th edition of Gregory Imafidon foundation gold cup for secondary schools in Edo State.

While we celebrate the successful closing ceremony of the 5th edition of this tournament, I wish to thank the governor of the state, His Excellency Godwin Obaseki and his able team including the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Education and others who gave their supports in one way or the other, especially, granting the approval for the use of the facilities and the school authorities, who trusted and believe in our dreams by allowing their schools to participate in this tournament."

Speaking further, Mr. Imafidon expressed his displeasure over the attitude that would have hindered the successful hosting of the tournament by one " We did face some unnecessary roadblocks which I personally feel wasn’t healthy for the growth of sport’s development in Edo state. It’s so shameful that after a proposal had been written and approved by the Permanent Secretary to allow all public schools participate in this laudable tournament tagged “Catch them young, Kick against crime” an enemy of the state and one who does not like the progress of youth and sport development in Edo state decided to call on some principals of public schools in Edo state to withdraw from this self sponsored tournament organized to support and meaningfully engage the kids, take them off the street, empower them through financial gifts and scholarships or educational support with the major goal of encouraging the school age boys to reduce the rate of crime in Edo state. I personally reach out to Jennifer Asuen, the Director of Schools in the Ministry of Education through WhatsApp Chat to see why the sudden sole decision taken, only to respond that the initial proposal written and duly signed by the permanent secretary didn’t go through the right channel and that I should please write another proposal and will be looked into. Where on earth does this insubordination and power tussle happens? This act by Jennifer is highly condemnable and has no place in the development of grassroots sports in Edo State. This is one of the reasons why great people of Edo indigenes in diaspora find it difficult to invest and support good causes that will help in the development of this great state. I don’t want to think because Jennifer is not from Edo state and that’s the reason she took this unwelcome decision. Edo state is very accommodating and very receptive to any body with good plans but we will not tolerate any body trying to discourage the good work of individuals and indigenes of Edo state who is ready to spend their hard earned money for the progress of the state".

Mr. Imafidon however stated that he will not relent in his efforts and determination to continue to sponsor the tournament despite the challenges as he calls on all Edo state sons and daughters to support the tournament with cash and other gifts prizes.

He said "We therefore wish to assure you that, we will not relent in our oars and we shall definitely be committed to continue with this tournament until our expectations to make the best of our youths are achieved. Edo state is our own, we have no other state to call our own. We can’t fold our hands to see a non indigene of Edo state discourage the progress of youth development in Edo state simply because there’s a godfather behind you. We must fight till the right thing is done in Edo state. We can’t afford to lose any more youth to crime. “Enough is Enough “. Edo State must move forward and remain a crime free state. In conclusion, I want to use this opportunity to encourage all parents, guardians and other stakeholders to embrace the concept of this tournament and encourage their children and wards to take advantage of this opportunity to build their destinies, ignore crimes and become useful to themselves and the society.Once again, I thank you all and may we achieve the essence of this programme for the betterment of Edo state in particular and Nigeria in general. God bless you all. See you at the next edition. Oba gha T 'okpere.".

Woman shot dead for allegedly testifying against man who killed her friend

A viral video last week shows how one Christine Gumira a mother-of-one, was shot dead .

She was walking with two others when an unidentified man approached her from behind and fatally shot her in the head according to Tori news .

A 30-year-old Zimbabwean woman, Christine Yolanda Gumira, has been shot dead outside a courthouse in Cape Town, South Africa.

The deceased was killed after leaving Wynberg court while making her way to a taxi rank on 25 May 2023.

Christine, a mother-of-one, was walking with two others when an unidentified man approached her from behind and fatally shot her in the head.

It is believed that Christine had attended a court case in which she was a witness against a man who killed her friend.

Christine had reported multiple threats against her life to the South African Police but was not provided with any protection.

South African authorities have announced the arrest of four suspects in connection with Gumira's murder.

The police conducted extensive investigations, tracing the suspects to different locations in Cape Town. They also seized a silver Nissan Tiida and cell phones for further examination. The suspects, aged between 24 and 33, are set to appear in court on Monday, June 5, 2023.

This devastating incident has left Gumira's loved ones in deep grief. They believe that the South African state failed to protect her despite her pleas for help.

Gumira's niece, Mollyn Matangambiri, expressed her frustration, stating, "She told police that she was getting threats from the people that killed her friend, they told her that if she continued testifying they were going to kill her."

Gumira's funeral arrangements are underway, and her body will be transported to Mhondoro Ngezi, Mashonaland West.

Her family is devastated by the loss, especially considering that she had plans to move to New Zealand this month to be with her boyfriend.
