Exclusive #freetundeabass - This is our side of the story -indicted  Policemen

Some policemen attached to the Onipanu Division accused of illegal arrest and unprofessional conduct in a statement exclusively obtained from the Lagos State  police command narrated their side of the allegation. 
Two policemen who arrested Tunde  Abbas and one  Kabiru  Kola Mohammed are said to be facing orderly room trial while the DPO of Onipanu Police station has been recalled to the State command headquarters 
They said " Kola Mohammed was arrested on  Saturday March 20th for using tinted windscreen without a  permit. As he was being arrested, one Tunde Abbas was video recording the police men and chanting that the police were intimidating Mohammed.   Abass was arrested and remanded him in a cell at Alade police station  while Mohammed was transferred to the the Task force office with the vehicle. 
Abbass was arraigned in court  but the DPP advised that he should be forgiven. The DPO Joseph Ani informed the Area commander Area H Ogudu and the case  was transferred  to State Criminal Investigation Department Panti Yaba. Case still under investigation at Panti when the Lagos State CP Hakeem Odumosu intervened and PPRO sent an ASP to bring Abass to his office at Oduduwa police station. Abbass claims that he was tortured can be investigated to see if there is  any wound on his body"
It can be recalled that  the Lagos State Commissioner of Police CP Hakeem Odumosu in a press release signed by the command spokesperson CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi which read

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu has ordered for immediate redeployment of CSP Francis Ani, the Divisional Police Officer, Onipanu Division of the Lagos State Police Command and some of his boys for the harassment and illegal detention of Tunde Abass and one Kabir Mohammed at Onipanu on Friday, 19th March, 2021

Tunde Abass was alleged by the police at Onipanu  Division for recording the harassment and forceful arrest of Kabir Mohammed at Onipanu Area of the State on Friday 19th March, 2021 at about 5pm after Tundes intervention in the case which did not go well with the policemen.

The police boss took the decision on Wednesday, 24th March, 2021, after he perused the report of the investigation into the incident that had gone viral on the gross violation of Tundes human rights by the DPO and his boys.

The Commissioner of Police has therefore condemned such act of unprofessionalism and excessive use of power to send a signal to the whole world that the command will not, for whatever reason, condone such act; and to serve as deterrent to other policemen who are fond of harassing, extorting and engaging in acts of lawlessness, unprofessionalism and gross violation of poeoles human rights in the state. 

CP Hakeem Odumosu has also ordered that the concerned  policemen in the unprofessional act be tried orderly room in order to award punishments accordingly, while the DPO be redeployed to the State Command Headquarters, Ikeja.
