Criminals have been given a matching order to leave Delta State as the police command under the leadership of CP Ari Mohammed has vowed to rid the state of all criminal elements.
Following this warning , the command have arrested gangs operating in military uniforms, robbers who target POS operations and men who impersonate among other criminals.
Speaking on the arrest of these suspected criminals, CP Ari Mohammed said " Okpanam Police Station received information that armed
robbers were attempting to rob a P.O.S agent by Eagle square along Okpanam road, patrol team was quickly deployed to the scene with the assistance of Okpanam youths, the police arrested one Prosper Godspower 23, carrying a bag containing one one brownie pistol
with breech no 11977 and iron chain"
In the same vein, CP Mohammed stated that a patrol team from ‘B’ Division Ughelli led by ASP Akpovwovwo Prest, while on stop and search duty along Uduere Ughelli road intercepted one Honda vehicle with Reg. No. JT-859 EKY driven by one Sunday Digbor 44 of number 15 Enroba Street, Enerhen
Delta State. Upon interrogation and search of the vehicle, two
military caps, one military T-shirt was recovered.
Likewise, Delta Hawk team on patrol by Midwifery junction along Okpanam road
Asaba, intercepted two suspected stolen vehicles, with covered
plate number and one red Toyota Corolla car with registration number
ABJ49AA and a black. He stated.
CP Mohammed while speaking following the tour of formations and visit to traditional rulers said " My primary assignment is to provide adequate security for the good people of Delta State and to ensure Delta State is safe for all. Although, the challenges are
obvious and enormous, they are nevertheless surmountable. On the premise of involving the Communities in policing, I have concluded my tour of police formations, during which period I met with some traditional rulers, opinion leaders and stakeholders to foster
the existing relationship between members of the public and the
police During the tour, I made it known to all stake holders, that
partnership with the police is key, as the police will not be able to do it alone. I also solicited for timely and credible information as it will go a long way in helping the police to proactively stop and
prevent crime".
The Delta police boss further added that he held a major stakeholders meeting with Fulan herders and farmers in Delta State at the police officers mess, Okwe, with the DG on security to the Delta state government Hon David Tonwea representing the Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr Ifeanyi Arthur
Okowa. I emphasize on the need for a peaceful coexistence between the
herders and farmers, i also looked at their challenges, and modalities
are been put in place to see that the herders/farmers crisis come to a
halt in Delta State"
Speaking on the Covid-19 enforcement he said " Compliance with the State government covid-19 imposed curfew in the state from 2200 hrs - 0400 hrs, to stop the spread of the covid-19 pandemic, raid / restriction of movement are been carried out by the
Command on daily basis and suspects arrested are been charged to
mobile court set by the state government. The command is aware of the danger of the covid-19 pandemic and will sustain its effort to ensure
that there is no further spread of the covid-19 virus in the state. The successes recorded by the Command within the period under
review, is due to re-enforced/pro-active anti-crime strategies in the
enforcement of law and order without infringing on the rights of
citizens and this will continue to be the hallmark for a more-friendly
and result-oriented policing under my watch. Continuous press briefing is a major way of informing the public on
the activities of the Command and efforts being made to ensure a
peaceful and safer Delta State. I assure you all that policing under my watch will be a responsible one in accordance with the dictates of the laws and respect to the fundamental human right of the citizens"
