Elere killing : Killer cop remanded in SCID

The lagos State commissioner of police Umar manko has ordered the arrest of an Inspector attached to the Elere Police station who allegedly shot dead a transporter during a scuffle . The incident happened on May 2nd at the Oke-Odo area of the state in the evening. The deceased was said to be quarrelling with another man over the ownership of a tyre when the police Inspector who was returning from attending to a distress call with a tream of officers in a patrol van got down from the vehicle to settle the two score between the two men. It was in the process that the gun fired and killed the transporter. The said inspector has been arrested and remanded at the State criminal Investigation department at Panti Yaba. the killer police man however said it was an accidental discharge as he did not intend to kill the transporter . When contacted, the lagos State police boss stated that the case is "murder" and would be investigated. The killing of the transporter caused tension in the area as residents were aggrieved by the killing .
