____ As police shun burial.
The remains of late police Inspector Monday Orukpe who was allegedly murdered by soldiers of the Nigerian Army has been buried today in his home town in Edo State.
Inspector Orukpe was attached to the Trade Fair division Lagos state police command Ikeja and was assisting to aid free flow of traffic on the Lagos- Badagry Express road when the soldiers who were held in the gridlock bounced on him and beat him to death.
Following his burial, his family members stated that no policeman attended the burial.
" We buried him today November 18th . No policeman accompanied his corpse to the village and there was no police presence during the burial. This really made us sad. Our brother was working somewhere when he was murdered while on legal duty. Yet after he was gruesomely murdered, the family has been abandoned. His wife is a full time house wife who has four children. How will she cope as she does not have a job nor business. We expected the police to follow us and be around during the burial but they didn't show up ". said Mr. Alama Orukpe
His family has since demanded for justice as the appeal to the police high command to ensure that his killers are brought to book.
" There is nothing we can do but to continue to demand that the soldiers that killed him should not go scot free. We demand for justice".
