Police officer, convicted of killing George Floyd, was stabbed 22 times in prison
Derek Chauvin, convicted of killing George Floyd, was stabbed 22 times in last week's prison attack, prosecutors have confirmed.
Derek Chauvin has been brutally stabbed in prison by another inmate last Friday.
The former Minneapolis police officer was convicted in the 2020 murder of George Floyd
The stabbing, which took place at around 12.30pm on November 24 at the Federal Correctional Institution, Tucson, Arizona, left Chauvin with serious injuries, according to a law enforcement officials familiar with the incident.
Fellow inmate, John Turscak, has since been charged with attempted murder.
Turscak used an improvised knife to stab Chauvin causing serious bodily injury.
Federal corrections officers immediately responded to the assault and deployed OC spray to subdue Turscak.
The inmate told officers he would have killed Chauvin and had been thinking about murdering him for a month.
Turscak stated his attack on Black Friday was symbolic of the Black Lives Matter movement.
