Pregnant woman, Okada rider escape death as tanker loaded with PMS, falls, spills content in Lagos.

 



A yet to be identified pregnant woman and a motorcycle rider cheated death today when a tanker loaded with Petrol Motor Spirit (PMS ) lost control and spills it's content in what could have resulted to multiply deaths and destruction of property but for the quick intervention of emergency response agencies led by the National Emergency Management Agency ( NEMA) in Lagos state.  
Commenting on the incident, the NEMA South West spokesperson Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye said " The incident occurred at the   Teslim Balogun/National Stadium.
He said "  The 3 occupants are safe. Federal and State fire ( Services) are fighting and blanketing the drainages when product had spilled into. There was a crash off the bridge which led to a build up of traffic, so when the ConOil truck which took off from Apapa heading to discharge at Ikeja (area of the state) tried to match ( step on ) its breaks, the driver lost the control of the vehicle and fell trapping the car with three occupants. They occupants were rescued alive successfully.
The spillage have been blanketed to rendered the product ineffective". 
Mr. Farinloye added that the driver of the accidents tanker  have contacted the owner of the truck to bring  another tanker to trans- load the remaining product 45,000 litres trucks . 
Giving further update on the condition of the occupants involved in the accident Mr. Farinloye said "   Two persons were injured. A woman taken to Randle hospital from the first crash and a motor cycle rider whose tanker truck fell had serious injury and admitted at LUTH
 The injured woman is pregnant, the husband has been contacted and is with his wife's bedside now.".
