Some policemen living in police barracks in Lagos state have been given one month quit notice starting to vacant the barracks or face forced eviction by the police authority.
The hasty notice to quit which will begin from May1st to May 31st was released in a signal making the rounds online. The signal reads in part " sequel to incessant building collapse ,structurally defective police structures across the federation with particular reference to the most recent incidence which occurred at Ibadan in order to forestall further occurrence, prevent loss of lives and property of police personnel residents in such police barracks Igenpol has graciously approved the redevelopment of the following structurally defective and grossly dilapidated police barracks within Lagos state. The identified barracks are Adekunle barracks measuring 2.239 hectares , Agege barracks measuring 3.405 hectares , Alausa barracks measuring 4.154 hectares , Area F barracks measuring 11.621 hectares , Bar beach barracks measuring 3.309 hectares , Bourdillon barracks measuring 146 hectares, Falomo barracks measuring 2.955 hectares , Federal Highway patrol barracks measuring 5591.80 sq mts, Highway barracks measuring 7.044 hectares , Ijeh barracks measuring 9.221 hectares , Ijora barracks measuring 6481.24 sq mts , ijora barracks 2 measuring 3468.49 sq mts, Iponri barracks measuring 2.378 hectares x k-9 police barracks measuring 1.400 hectares , Kam Salem House measuring 8807.46 sq mts, Macarthy Barracks measuring 7966.68 sq mts. According to the signal, "Some of the buildings have been severally marked by the Lagos state government for demolition as they are no longer safe for human habitation . To this end , ingenpol directs that all legal resident police personnel in the listed police barracks are warned to vacate the quarters within the next 30 days commencing from Monday 1st may 2023 to Wednesday 31st May 2023 .
