NAN losses journalist ---

as ten journalists die in less than one year

The journalism profession has lost one of its capable hands. Death again knocked on its doors with the sad news of Mrs Modupe Oremule of NAN, nee Olori who passed on .

Mrs Oremule until her demise , was the Defence Correspondent for the News Agency of Nigeria NAN.

News of her demise was the talk among her colleagues who are in shock.

According to sources , Mrs Oremule had been battling  depression after the death of her mother. Sources added that she underwent surgery for an undisclosed ailment but the cold hand of death took her away from her two little sons, husband and siblings.

It can be recalled that that death has taken away more than seven journalists in Nigeria since 2020.

On the list are Tunde Saiki of the Nigeria Television Authority NTA while in the space of seven days, seven Nigerian journalists  died from COVID-19 and other illnesses.

On the list are Mr.  Dan Foster (Cool FM Radio Station), Hugo Odiogor (former editor at the Vanguard), Xavier Ndayongmong (Crime Editor at Daily Independent), Nkiruka Udoh (Crime and Defence Correspondent at AIT), Naomi Uzor (on the Business Desk at the Vanguard), Aramide Praise Oikelome (the Media Project and Independent Newspapers), and Azeez Ozi Sanni (Cartoonist at The Nation) Mr. Waheed Bakare  Saturday Editor  of Telegraph Newspaper

No doubt journalists in Nigeria have been facing great risk while on their job with many not being paid salaries and hardly having access to good medical care.
