A 55year old man Ishau Falana has been arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command over the alleged murder of his relative one Badmus Rafiu.
The suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged at Ayetoro divisional headquarters by a younger brother to the deceased who reported that the deceased went to their farm at Oluwasogo area of Ijaka Isale only to be accosted by the suspect who challenged him for burning bush very close to his farm. He stated further that fight ensued between them, as a result of the argument, consequent upon which the suspect overpowered the deceased, tied his hands and legs with rope and used a stick to beat him to state of coma before leaving him there and coming back to the town. The following day when the deceased mother got to the farm, she met him already dead.
Upon the report, the DPO Ayetoro division CSP Bolaji Jimoh detailed his detectives to the scene from where the corpse was recovered to the general hospital mortuary for post mortem examination while the suspect was arrested.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Edward A. Ajogun has ordered the transfer of the suspect to the homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and diligent prosecution
In a related development, youth have stopped armed robbery attack on their community and recovered arms
It was gathered that on January 17th about 11.30pm, the youths of Igboelerin community in Lagos State dislodged suspected armed robbers in their community.
According to police source, suspected armed robbers rode on two unregistered motorcycle with the intention of attacking their targets before they were repelled by the youths who have been involved in the community policing strategies of the command.
Lagos state police command spokesperson CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said "one unregistered operational bike and one locally made pistol with a life cartridge were recovered from them'"
He added that the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, while commending the youths has ordered for the manhunt and arrest of the fleeing armed robbers adding that the CP encouraged Lagos residents to embrace the community-based policing which has paid off in many areas of the state.
