Operatives
of the Lagos state command have arrested a 14-year-old female nanny
who allegedly strangled her mistress’ son, Jayden Osokolo, kept in her
custody to death. The suspect, according to the police confessed to
being a member of the Ogoloma cult group in Enugu, Enugu State.
Lagos
state commissioner of police CP Alabi said during a press briefing on
Monday that " during interrogation, she disclosed that members of the
cult group requested her to bring the blood of the deceased to the
spiritual world hence she carried out the dastardly act".
In
a related development, the operatives of the Lagos state police command
arrested a female cultist who also allegedly doubled as the gang’s
armourer. The suspect, Blessing Gabriel, aged 30 suspected to allegedly
belonged to an armed robbery gan but was arrested on 18/2/2022 by
detectives after other members of the gang who were earlier arrested led
police detectives to her criminal hideout at Satellite Town. During her
arrest, a miniature English pistol concealed in a bag and substance
suspected to be hard drug tucked under her bra were recovered.
Similarly, two male armed robbery suspects/cultists, Umoru Galadima aged
26 and Celestine Igwe aka Ofor aged 36 were arrested by operatives of
the Command’s Special Squad on 18/2/2022. The two armed robbery suspects
and others now at large on 21/1/2022 at about 2100hrs attacked innocent
shop owners and robbed them of their valuables at Satellite Town,
Festac.
Also arrested in the course of investigation were the following
self-confessed cultists who belong to the Viking CONFRATERNITY. The
suspects are:Ikechukwu Chikwau ‘m’ aged 25, arrested on 18/2/2022Aleke
Onyeka ‘m’ aged 28, arrested on 27/2/2022Anthony Nwachukwu ‘m’ aged 25
arrested on 6/3/2022 Odo Solomon ‘m’ aged 32 was arrested on 9/3/2022The
suspects are among a gang of cultists responsible for the spate of
rival cult clashes in Satellite Town and its environs. One locally-made
pistol belonging to Celestine Igwe AKA Ofor was recovered from Odo
Solomon.3. Command on 26/2/2022 at about 0630hrs arrested a suspect
simply identified as Oluwatoyin Joshua ‘f’ aged 26 for murder. The
suspect on the said day, stabbed the deceased, Olayinka Adebayo ‘m’ aged
27, to death with a kitchen knife while fighting over the sharing of
three thousand naira given to them by a Good Samaritan. The incident
happened at Ogunnaike Street, Shangisha, Lagos. The suspect is in police
custody while awaiting legal advice from the DPP.11. CONSPIRACY, ARMED
ROBBERY AND CULTISM: On 27/2/2022 at about 2035hrs, four young men
booked an UBER service. While being driven from Ojota to Fela Shrine in
Alausa, Ikeja, the men brought out a gun and robbed the UBER driver of
the sum of eighty thousand naira, a Tecno Spark 8 mobile phone and other
personal belongings.Consequently, the distraught driver raised an alarm
which attracted a police patrol team on a routine patrol around the
area. The policemen reacted swiftly and chased the suspects leading to
the arrest of two of the robbers while others escaped. One English made
revolver pistol was recovered from the arrested suspects. The suspects
were identified as: Michael Tobiloba ‘m’ aged 23 and Ismaila Yususf ‘m’
aged 18. Both suspects also confessed to be members of the Buccaneer.
The
police also arrested the duo of 29-year-old Sunday Gabriel and 24-year
old Kenneth Agbehi devised a criminal modus operandi by pretending to
be UBER drivers, preying on unsuspecting passengers in some parts of the
state. On 27/2/2022 at about 2000hrs, the two suspects held a female
victim hostage, robbed her of her ATM card, cash and other valuable
items. The suspects thereafter unlawfully withdrew the sum of two
million, four hundred thousand naira (2,400,000.00) from the victim’s
bank account. Following diligent investigation carried out by police
operatives, the suspects were nabbed in their hideout at Adeola Odeku
Street, Victoria Island where they were planning another operation. Upon
interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and several others
they had committed earlier. Exhibits recovered from them include: one
locally-made pistol, three live cartridges, one Toyota Camry with
Registration Number AHL 571 FE and one Toyota Corolla saloon car with
registration number EPE 32 GG. The suspects are in police custody while
awaiting legal advice from the DPP.Gentlemen of the press, we sincerely
