Endsars Protest: Lagos CP ,Nigerians take to trekking,

Lagos CP ,Nigerians take to trekking, food prices skyrocket  as endsars protest spreads

Several endsars protesters today took to the Airport Road in Lagos to join other Nigerians demanding an end to police brutality.
The protesters blocked all roads leading into and out of the airports as they danced and sang to various music

The protesters were seen with the Nigerian flags and placards as they call on banks and other institutions to join in the protest.
One of the protesters was heard saying
" This is enough. Enough is enough. How long will they take us for granted".
Others who were not protesting on the streets threw their weight behind the protesters.
One Lilian said "  This is good. I support them. If not for my work, I would have joined them to protest. The suffering is too much ".
Another onlooker said " I want to join them. I am thinking of it and will soon".

Trekking galore

Following the endsars protests, major roads have been blocked by rampaging youth. This has caused gridlock on the roads  and residents have taken to trekking to get to their various destinations.
Mr. King who works in the Airport said " I am tired. Last weekend , on Friday to be precise, I walked from Mile 12 area of Lagos State to Ikorodu where I reside. On Saturday, I walked from Ketu community  to Oshodi area before I could get a bus going to the Airport. The endsars protesters are coming out in their numbers everyday and hoodlums have taken over. The government should stop this imminent disorder and lawlessness".

A motorist said "I was heading to the international Airport to pick up my friend when I saw the trailer they used to blocked the road at 7and 8 junction. This has caused gridlock since 9.30am. I have been held up for more than one hour. Please we need them to protest peacefully".

Food prices increasing.

While protest continues unabated, its effect is taking a toll on already exhor
bitant prices of food in the country as blockade of major high ways like the Lagos Ibadan expressway and other roads have been on standstill.  This has made food trucks to be held in traffic for days.
A house wife in Mowe community in Ogun State said " The protest is really making life that is already hard to be harder. Imagine me buying a satchet of tomatoes for N150. This same satchet of tomatoes was sold for N60 two weeks ago. Same with rice , beans and other foodstuff but since the protest started, prices of commodities have skyrocketed. The traders in the markets said those persons bringing  foodstuff from the north cannot get to the south west due to gridlock and some of them are afraid  .Some of them bringing in perishable goods are lamenting that the foodstuffs have rotten on the way '"
LAGOS CP COMPELLED BY PROTESTERS TO TREK FOR 10 KM

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, on Sunday, 18th October, 2020, was compelled by aggressive #endsars# protesters at Okota to trek  in companies of his senior officers for more than 10 kilometres in order to pay a visit to the assaulted grandma, Mrs Durojaiye Olaleye, who was assaulted severally on monday 12th October, 2020, as captured in a viral video on the social media.

The Commissioner of Police, who had earlier been denied access at the Muritala Mohammed Airport tollgate in Ikeja by endsars protesters, ran into a similar barricade at NNPC junction, Okota, where the hyper-aggressive protesters insisted that CP Hakeem Odumosu and team highlight from their official cars and trek that long distance despite series of explanation and appeal on the command's mission in the area.

The Commissioner of Police, like every other officer in Lagos State, who has been professional in tolerating and managing several harassments, intimidations and provocations from the protesters, obliged and trekked for peace to reign.

The visit to the assualted grandma was to sympathise and apologise to her and her family members and assured them that the arrested police officer, *SP Tunji  Ajakaiye*, second-in-command at the disbanded Anti Kidnapping Unit, Surulere, who assaulted the grandma has been queried and will face the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) for appropriate punishment.

The police chief also condemned the unprofessional conduct of the senior officer which is unbecoming of his status and contrary to the IGP's modern policing principles.

While assuring Lagosians of his commitment to sanitise the command, CP Hakeem Odumosu encouraged members of the public to report all unprofessional conducts of police officers and men to the command for appropriate disciplinary actions.
