Women wearing hijab convey weapon to bandits' husbands ----- Police Commissioner.

 -----NSCDC Officer, Fake Doctor, arrested

The Zamfara State Police Command has apprehended an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for allegedly supplying arms, ammunition, and drugs to bandits in the state, as reported by Channels Television.

Mohammed Dalijan, the Commissioner of Police, announced the arrest during a parade of suspects at the command headquarters in Gusau, Zamfara state.

Among those seized were a bogus doctor and two wives of prominent bandit leaders, who were supposedly on their way to transfer ammo to the bandits.

The NSCDC officer, named as ACS II Maikano S/Tasha, was allegedly apprehended with a big stockpile of ammunition, including AK-47 rounds and anti-aircraft projectiles, as well as illegal narcotics like cannabis.

According to CP Dalijan, Maikano was arrested two years ago but released. Dalijan promised that Maikano would not dodge justice under his watch.

"One of the unfortunate incidents we are dealing with is the arrest of a Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps officer found in possession of arms and drugs intended for delivery to bandits in the Mada area," said Commander Dalijan.

"He was captured while delivering ammo and Indian hemp to the outlaws in the bush.

"He is a collaborator and will be treated accordingly."

The command also apprehended Mamuda Sani Makakari, a bogus doctor who was discovered with 441 live rounds of ammunition.

Investigations found that Makakari had been giving medical services to the bandits despite lacking proper medical qualifications.

He was captured with numerous women and children while transporting live ammo to distribute to bandits in the Anka Local Government Area.

Among the arrested ladies were the spouses of well-known bandit commanders, such as Kachalla Jijji and Bello Kaura.

"These women were apprehended while on their way to deliver ammunition to bandits in Anka and Bukkuyum," stated Superintendent Dalijan.

The police commissioner voiced alarm about the growing use of women in hijabs to transfer weaponry and ammunition throughout the state.

Our greatest concern right now is the involvement of women wearing hijabs in smuggling firearms to robbers.

We have no choice but to search all women passing through the state, regardless of whether they wear a hijab," he explained.

"We will ensure that women search women, but any woman on our roads must undergo thorough checks."

CP Dalijan further reported that the husbands of the jailed ladies had threatened to retaliate against local communities and police formations if the women were not released.

We are taking precautions to protect our employees and the public from potential assaults.

The women will not be released under any conditions. "If they [the bandits] attack, we will respond appropriately," the commissioner stated.

The police also detained two notable bandits: Aminu Tsauni, known for kidnapping and phone theft, and Salisu Hegen, a cattle rustler who worked for famed bandit commander Hassan Na-Bamamu.

All accused have apparently confessed to their crimes and will be prosecuted once the investigations are completed.

CP Dalijan reminded the people that the police force remains committed to eradicating crime and restoring peace in Zamfara State.

Justice Haleema Salima sentenced 5 Offa bank robbers to be hanged by the neck to they die.

Justice Haleema Saliman of the Kwara State High Court has sentenced five suspects involved in the 2018 Offa bank robbery to death by hanging.According to the report by Daily Trust on Thursday, the convicted individuals - Ayoade Akinnibosun, Azeez Salahudeen, Niyi Ogundiran, Ibikunle Ogunleye, and Adeola Abraham - were found guilty of culpable homicide and armed robbery after a six-year trial.

The Offa robbery, one of the most brutal in Nigeria's history, left over 30 people dead, including nine police officers.

The incident, which occurred in April 2018, shocked the nation and attracted international attention.

The trial, which began shortly after, saw several twists, including the death of the principal suspect and former police officer, Michael Adikwu, while in custody.

Justice Saliman’s judgement, which lasted nearly three hours, found the five suspects guilty of multiple counts of culpable homicide and armed robbery.

She handed down the death penalty, stating, "The five of you will be hanged by the neck until you are dead. And may the Lord have mercy on your souls."

In addition to the death sentence, the court also convicted the defendants for unlawful possession of firearms.

However, Justice Saliman, using her discretion, reduced the sentence for that charge from the usual 10 years to three years imprisonment.

In her remarks, Justice Saliman expressed regret over the tragic turn in the lives of the convicted men.

She said, "It is unfortunate that we are witnessing these five able-bodied men who had all the opportunities to better their lots by living decently."

The judge criticized the defendants for squandering opportunities to live lawfully, adding that their actions resulted in immense loss of life.

Reacting to the judgement, lead prosecutor Rotimi Jacobs (SAN) expressed satisfaction, commending the judge for her dedication despite several delays during the trial.

He emphasized that the defendants still have the right to appeal.

Adeniyi Zachariyau Jimba, representing the lead counsel for the defence, Matthias Emeribe, stated that they anticipated the judgement and were already preparing to file an appeal.

Yahoo Boy’ Arrested After Attempting To Murder Hookup Girl In Abuja

 ‘

A 30-year-old internet fraudster, known locally as a “Yahoo Boy,” who was apprehended while attempting to rob and potentially kill a hookup girl at an Abuja hotel, has confessed to luring and robbing four other victims he met through dating sites before being caught by a team from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The suspect, Joseph Efe, who hails from Edo and Ondo States, was arrested at Top View Hotel in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, as he attempted to flee after allegedly leaving his victim tied up in the hotel room.

FCT Commandant of the NSCDC, Olusola Odumosu, who paraded the suspect noted that Efe was apprehended following the officers’ keen observation.

“When he came out of the hotel premises allegedly to meet his accomplice, our officers noticed something was off and stopped him. He tried to escape, but we pursued and apprehended him, and on returning to the hotel, we found a young woman, Olivia Ijeoma Chukwuemeka, bound and gagged,” Odumosu explained.

According to the Commandant, Efe targeted women through dating platforms like Badoo, Tinder, and Insta Love, luring them to hotels with the intention of robbing them.

He met his latest victim, Olivia Ijeoma Chukwuemeka on a dating site – “Coded Runs” before luring her into the said hotel. ‘

Odumosu revealed that after conducting a thorough investigation, it was revealed that Efe had arrived in Abuja from Lagos on Tuesday, September 17, and had already victimised another woman at a different hotel, FAB, by Top Rank Hotel, adjacent Old Federal Secretariat, Area 1, where he managed to escape due to inadequate security.

Sadly, rather than retreat upon his escape, the adamant suspect then proceeded to Top View Hotel, checked in by 2:30am on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, where he invited his latest victim who arrived at 9am with a promise to pay her a N100,000.

Odumosu who urged hotel owners to prioritise the safety of their guests and to be vigilant against criminal activities occurring on their premises, emphasised that the NSCDC operates with professionalism and does not condone the release of unverified information to the media.

He emphasied that the video circulating on social media regarding the incident was not recorded or released by his team, which he described as highly professional.

“We are committed to performing our duties with diligence before taking any necessary steps to prosecute or transfer a suspect to the appropriate agency,” he stated.

According to him, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with online dating, highlighting the importance of caution and awareness among users.

The victim, a beautician from Enugu, shared her harrowing experience, stating, “He used my clothes, a cellotape and a pillowcase to tie me up and threatened to kill me with a poisonous injection if I didn’t comply.”

She recalled how he confiscated her Android phone and demanded access to her Opay mobile banking app. “He was contemplating what to do next when, thankfully, I was rescued.”

In a separate case, the Commandant also presented another suspect, Usman Ibrahim, who was arrested for vandalising armored cables from a transformer at the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission’s Nuclear Technology Centre in Sheda Village, Abuja.

IPSS UI provides platform for Civilian- Military discuss , collaborations to proffer strategic solutions to combat insecurity . ----- Prof. Ruth Adio- Moses

----- As COAS presents IPSS Strategic Personality lecture

By Patience Ogbo

The University of Ibadan Institute for Peace and Strategic Studies IPSS under the Directorship of Professor Ruth Adio- Moses has continued to blaze the trail and set the pace in providing the needed platform for the gown and town to meet regularly to proffer strategic solutions to tackling threats to  the unity of Nigeria.

This is noted following the Institute's series of distinguished personality lectures which have featured top security Chiefs in Nigeria from the Inspector General of Police IGP Kayode Egbetokun, to the Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla and the Chief of Army Staff lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja who presented the Institute 's Strategic Personality lecture on Friday.

The lecture  titled “Combating an Adversary Without Boundaries: The Need to Implement A Whole of Society Approach to Nigeria’s National Security”.

In her welcome address, the Director of the Institute For Peace and Strategic Studies IPSS University of Ibadan Professor Ruth Adio- Moses said the lecture is aimed at addressing  threats in the country .
She said  “The topic was strategically chosen knowing the current precarious threats facing Nigeria, such as insurgency, terrorism, separatist agitations and violent extremism, and the need for a whole social approach,”

Lt-Gen Taoreed  Lagbaja, who was represented by the General Officer Commanding 2-Division of the Nigerian Army, Major-General Obinna Onubogu, said tackling poverty and unemployment will greatly reduce threats to the country . He said “The twin problems of unemployment and poverty has given impetus to security challenges, as the unemployed and poor are susceptible to recruitment by criminals and violent Non State Actors.“

Proffering  solutions to   these threats , the COAS said “A whole-of-society approach must be implemented in Nigeria by leveraging the strength of every stakeholder to ensure a cohesive and coordinated response to threats. To achieve this, there must be enhanced communication, cooperation, and trust among the different sectors and efforts must be aligned with national interests and other security objectives".
The COAS added that "The strategy can potentially address the root causes of insecurity, such as poverty, unemployment, and social injustice often exploited by adversaries,”  porous and unmanned borders of Nigeria have opened Nigeria to the infiltration of adversaries from the west Africa, adding that “four West African countries ranked among the 10 most terrorised nations of the world is indicative of the transnational affliations existing among terror groups in sub-Saharan Africa.Nigeria army is  deepening synergy with other agencies to achieve the mandates of securing   lives and properties and keeping the country safe".

The COAS urged the Ministry of  Education and the National Orientation Agency to continue to englighten and sensitise citizens and stakeholders on security and thier roles as citizens.
He said "This is important as well in understanding the supremacy of national interest and citizens’ responsibility.”

The COAS further assuring of the government's commitment to securing lives and properties said the  federal government had bought into the concept of the “Whole of Society Approach” in 2016.

”This was by setting up the Presidential Committee on the North-East Initiative (PCNI) and the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) through the NEDC Establishment Acts in 2017,

“The national security strategy, among others, recognises the importance of this concept.

“However, its implementation has become rather slow due to some factors such as collaboration among stakeholders, security awareness, and use of technology, among others".

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, said the lecture is timely looking at the threats to the existence of the country as he assured  that the University of Ibadan will continue to set the pace and be in the fore front of providing the required teaching and researches that  will   drive the country into prosperity.

The chairman of the occasion and a former commander, Military Joint Task Force MJTF N’Djamena, Lt.-Gen. Lamidi Adeosun (rtd.), commended the military for keeping the nation united inspite of the threats.

Beware : How scammers use your photo, voice to defraud your friends, colleagues.

Everyone, if your cell phone rings and you see yourself appearing on the screen, just like a camera taking a picture, don't pay attention to it, don't face the screen, and don't talk until it stops on its own. This happened to my wife's cell phone yesterday and today. I just received a call and saw that the caller number started with 852, and I saw my face on the screen. I went to the Apple store yesterday and asked about it, and they told me to just ignore it and let it shut down on its own. It turns out that as soon as you press to answer a call, it will take a picture of you (get your Face ID facial recognition), if you speak to it, it will record your voice, then block your phone and use your phone content, call your friends through AI technology and have video calls with them. Your friends might fall for it if they see what you really look like.

This is a new scam, everyone should pay attention!
