The police chief gave the commendation after coordinated operations by the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit, and the Ibafo Division led to significant breakthroughs in the fight against crime in Abeokuta, Wasimi, and Ibafo areas of Ogun State.
According to the Command, the operations resulted in the arrest of six suspects linked to generator theft, illegal possession of firearms, conspiracy, and receiving stolen property. Recovered exhibits included a pump-action rifle, a locally fabricated pistol, live ammunition, five generators, and nine Android phones suspected to have been stolen.
CP Ojajuni described the successes as evidence of the Command's renewed determination to ensure the safety and security of residents through proactive and intelligence-driven policing strategies.
"The achievements recorded by our officers demonstrate the effectiveness of timely intelligence gathering, rapid response, and teamwork in combating criminal activities across the state," the Commissioner stated.
He noted that the Command remains committed to sustaining pressure on criminal elements and ensuring that Ogun State remains hostile to all forms of crime and criminality.
The police boss particularly praised operatives of the VCRU for dismantling a generator theft syndicate operating within Abeokuta and its environs, leading to the recovery of several stolen generators and mobile phones.
He also commended the SWAT Unit for its swift action in recovering firearms and ammunition from a suspect accused of unlawful possession of weapons and alleged intimidation of residents in Wasimi and surrounding communities.
Similarly, CP Ojajuni lauded officers of the Ibafo Division for their prompt investigation and arrest of suspects connected to a vehicle parts theft network operating within the area.
The Commissioner assured residents that investigations into the various cases are ongoing and that all suspects would be prosecuted in accordance with the law upon the conclusion of investigations.
He further reiterated the Command's unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, stressing that the police would continue to deploy intelligence, technology, and community partnerships to tackle emerging security challenges.
CP Ojajuni also called on members of the public to remain vigilant and support the police with timely and credible information that could assist in preventing and detecting crime.
"Our success in fighting crime depends largely on the cooperation of residents. We encourage members of the public to continue to share useful information with the police. Together, we can build a safer Ogun State for everyone," he said.
