Anambra State Government suspends Mbamba from office over wife’s murder

Mr Mbazulike Iloka populalry known as Mbamba, the newly sworn-in TC Chairman in Nnewi North has reportedly murdered his wife Mrs Chidiebere Iloka after battering her.

The Anambra State Government moved swiftly to suspend Mbamba from office over the alleged murder of his wife after massive widespread and public outcry for justice.

Mr Mbamba as he is fondly called, has since denied the allegations, claiming his wife slumped and died instantly however, a credible source familiar with the family disclosed that the woman suffered domestic violence in the hands of her husband leading to the untimely death, with her family being aware of such incidents in the past though the woman tried to hide the true extent of the horrific abuse, till it took her life.

Another source also disclosed that Mr. Mbamba has continue to frustrate all effort of the family of the late wife to conduct autopsy insisting that his wife died a natural death, but his in-laws especially the brothers to the deceased, have not only termed MbaMba a liar but passed a vote of no confidence on his claims of innocence to the extent that they have petitioned him to their community deity as they strongly believe that the woman was murdered in cold blood, given the antecedents of MbaMba’s brutality towards her even though he has continued to insist his wife died from a cardiac arrest and blocking every insistence by the in-law for an autopsy.

From the pictures seen the deceased who is well known by many to be a very peaceful and loving personality had a deep cut on her forehead well as the glaring and fresh bruises on the side of her face as well as her back eye, not to mention that there are strong evidences and eye witness reports of the deceased usually seen with bandages and plasters on her head from time to time, which she tried to cover with wigs and other head gears

Neighbours of the deceased has asked the state government and the IGP to investigate the matter, stating that his close ties to the Governor should not be abused in shielding him from the full arm of the law and granting justice to both the woman, her family and the community at large as the incident has left everyone shell shocked

They insist Mr Mbamba has questionable character and always envious of the success and progress of the deceased especially since she was a high ranking staff of a Federal establishment, which means she was vastly more literate than MbaMba which was why MbaMba was using her bank accounts as she was the one who could read, understand and correctly interpret documents and lettered articles which made MbaMba develop inferiority complex which climaxed to the murder of his wife

With the Anambra State Government suspending MbaMba over this issue, it has given hope to the family of the deceased that indeed, MbaMba’s connections will not shield him from this terrible crime, even as Ndi Anambra insist that the Government should get to the root of the matter and make sure justice is delivered. IRT arrest ex drug convict, three others over killing of Bauchi lawmaker, DPO

 

Operatives of the Intelligence Response Team IRT led by DCP Olatunji Disu have arrested four alleged kidnap for ransom kingpins in Bauchi State over the killing of a retired Divisional Police Officer DPO CSP Garkuwa and a serving lawmaker Hon.Musa Mante of the state House of Assembly.

According to the police, the suspects confessed that they killed the Police officer after his retirement for making life tough and miserable for them by constantly searching for them, they also said that they killed the late lawmaker and kidnapped his wives and children for failing to assist them with funds after making several requests for it.

" The syndicate's key suspect is Hamishu Galadima 48 alias Kan Wuka and Abdulwahab Alhassan alias Emeka and Abdulwahab Ahmed alias Dan mama and Hamidu Saleh are kidnappers arrested by the IRT operatives after intelligence reports on the kidnappings, armed robbery and criminal conspiracy were lodged against them by the indigenes of Dass LGA of Bauchi State.

After a well coordinated operation by the DCP Tunji Disu led intelligence Police team, the officers apprehended the suspects and they confessed their individual involvement and roles in all the kidnappings and armed robbery operations in Plateau, Bauchi and Kaduna villages and market roads on Mondays.

They also confessed to have also burgled the room of one Suleiman Shuaibu alias Shayi a native of Dass local council of Bauchi State at about 01.15 hours and took into captivity six members of the man's family.

On the killing of the lawmaker, he said that the criminal gang eliminated the man for refusing to assist them with funds after several requests were made of him from his gang members whereas he always assisted others.

He said: "We entered the house of the honourable member House of Assembly Hon.Musa Mante and killed him inside his room and took physical cash of two million naira (N2,000000).

"And we kidnapped his two wives and took them to Dutsin Miagoshi Igala and the victims spent almost four days in captivity and we demanded a ransom of Thirty-Five Million Naira (N35,000,000.00)".

On how they killed the lawmaker, he said that he was the one guarding the deceased man's gate while other gang members entered through the roof of the house and took away his money before killing him.

The other suspect Abdulwahab alias Emeka who further confessed that they worked with the gang leader in the various kidnapping cases added that he was previously dealing on hard drugs and had interacted and knew all the criminals terrorising the villages in Bauchi.

He however said that he did not follow the crime suspects to the home of the lawmaker but he only provided them with the information that was needed.

He added that he was an ex-convict who was arrested for drug offences by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA and was imprisoned twice for two year jail terms and served his terms and was released.

Upon further interrogations by the IRT media team, all the suspects admitted that they had engaged the late lawmaker in an argument about his constituency projects that was said to be lopsided and when he could not provide a satisfactory answer they shot him.

On the exhibits recovered by the Police team, they had confessed to have operated with one AK 47 assault rifle and assorted range of ammunitions

The Inspector-General of Police IGP Usman Alkali Baba has directed that all the weapons, arms and ammunition in the hands of criminal elements such as kidnappers and bandits should be mopped up immediately for security of lives of citizens of the country.

The Police authorities through the Force Spokesman CSP Muyiwa Adejobi have assured that the suspects will be prosecuted after the conclusion of investigation. 

500L Engineering student allegedly, jumps to his death after taking illicit drugs.

 

One Hyacinth Egbulefu a  500-level student of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, MOUAU, Abia State has  allegedly committed suicide after taking suspected hard drugs.

Egbulefu, who is a student of the Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering  in Ikwuano local government area, was said to have jumped from the three-story building identified as Groom Base Lodge after allegedly taking some substances suspected to be ”Mkpulu mmiri.”

The incident occurred around 9:40 am at the lodge as other students were shocked at the incident and tried in vain to revive him.

It was further gathered that his corpse has been deposited at an undisclosed mortuary in the area.

The Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) Abia State Command, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, confirmed the death of the student.

Ogbonna however added that an investigation has commenced on the matter.

Six soldiers arrested over murder of police Inspector

Six soldiers have been arrested by the military authority over the killing of one Inspector Monday Orukpe in Lagos. 

It can be recalled that Inspector Orukpe attached to the Trade Fair police station with his colleagues    on official duty assisting traffic officials to aid free flow of traffic and prevent thieves who operate during gridlock along the Lagos - Badagry road on Wednesday were  allegedly attacked by  soldiers said to be about thirty in a vehicle held who were held up in the gridlock along the Lagos- Badagry road. 

The soldiers it was gathered were heading to the Ojoo military Barracks but were   angered over the long hours in  the traffic jam , took thier frustration out on Inspector Orukpe and a yet to be identified policeman as they  blamed the policemen for the gridlock. A police source said  "  they soldiers  came down from Thier vehicle to confront  Inspector Orukpe and his colleagues. The soldiers were about thirty. Some of the soldiers pounced on Inspector Orukpe and another policeman. They beat them to a pulp and took thier guns with them to the barracks where they continued the beating. Inspector Orukpe passed out and the soldiers rushed him and the other policeman to the Navy hospital where they dumped them. When the doctors observed the injured policemen, they confirmed that Inspector Orukpe was dead and the other policeman was lucky as he was still breathing. Inspector Orukpe's corpse was moved to the mortuary ". 

Speaking on the killing, a family member of the deceased policeman ,Mr Alama Oamen Orukpe  said.  " Since we did not hear anything from the police authority over our brother Inspector Monday 's killing, we went to the Trade Fair police station on Friday to see the DPO .  The soldiers beat him up mercilessly when they took him to their barracks and   dumped  his corpse at the Navy hospital at Satellite Town. It took us over three hours to see and identify his corpse in the Mortuary. From what we gathered, six soldiers have been detained by the military authority over the killing but we want the army authority to fish out the others who participated in the evil act against the policemen. We want justice". 

Soldiers allegedly kill police Inspector, abscond with corpse

 

Soldiers attached to the Ojoo military Barracks have allegedly killed a police Inspector attached to the TradeFair Division  Lagos state police command and absconded with his corpse. 

According to a police source, the deceased police Inspector identified  as Inspector Monday Orukpe was on legal duty with his colleagues along the Lagos-Badagry Express Road on Wednesday evening assisting the traffic officers to aid free flow of traffic when the soldiers said to be inside a  bus  in the  gridlock  allegedly approached the policemen and accused them of causing the gridlock. 

The source  who requested anonymity said " Inspector Monday was on legal duty when they soldiers accused  the police of causing the gridlock. Inspector Monday and his colleague said they were not responsible for the gridlock . The soldiers started arguing with them and this led the soldiers to pounce on  Inspector Monday and beat the other policeman to a pup making him unconscious. The soldiers killed  Inspector  Monday and  took his corpse away to thier barracks with the other unconscious policeman. They went away with  thier guns to thier barracks   The Divisional Police Officer of the TradeFair police station  and the  Area commander have not been able to recover his corpse from the soldiers or get the unconscious policeman from them". 

An elder brother of the deceased policeman Mr Alama Oamen Orukpe  said " I was at home when the wife of our brother called me that she has not seen her husband and all her calls to his phone were not returned. As I was trying to find out where he could be, I got a call from a policeman in the station where he served that our brother Monday was killed by soldiers and they took his corpse away with them. He left home that fateful morning to work and he was posted legally to the beat where he was killed by these soldiers. As I'm talking to you, the police authority has not reached out to us the family members to tell us what really happened to our brother. We want justice. We want the police to recover his corpse and give it to us for burial. He is a married man with four children and his wife gave birth recently. We want the police authority to get to the root of this matter and those killer soldiers should be brought to book". 

An uncle of the late Inspector Orukpe one Mr. Fidelis  Ainabebholo condemned the killing.  " His wife was expecting him back home from work but he did not turn up. She became worried and called his phone which rang but no response. She called me to tell me that she has not seen my nephew. I rushed down to thier house where I learnt that it was soldiers that killed my brother Inspector Monday who was on legal duty. We want justice for our brother and his corpse returned to us for burial". 

Efforts to get the reaction of the Lagos state police command spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin was not successful at the time of filing this report ". 

Police arrest syndicate who uses gay dating App to lure, steal from love seekers.

 

Policemen attached to the Nasarawa police command have arrested a syndicate who allegedly specialises in luring love seekers using a gay app. 

Nasarawa state commissioner of police CP Adesina Soyemi following the arrest of six members of the syndicate  urges members of the public to be wary of their safety before pleasure; 

 DSP RAMHAN NANSEL, spokesperson for the Nasarawa state police command said " acting based on credible information, Police operatives attached to Masaka Division in a sting operation, raided the hideout of some notorious criminals and arrested the following suspects, Sunday Michael, Luka Musa, Joy Sunday, Elijah Ishaya,  Agada Sandra and Abdulrahman Tijani" 

He further stated that preliminary investigation revealed that, the suspects criminally conspired among themselves and utilised  a popular Gay dating App where they arrange dates with unsuspecting members of the public from different parts of the country, lure them to their hideout, hold them hostage and dispossess them of their belongings while threatening them with dangerous weapons.

Further more, the victims are assaulted and forced to reveal their ATM Pin; their bank accounts is then wiped out before they are let go.Consequently, the sum of One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (#150,000) which they collected from one of their victim who came in from Imo State on 30/7/2022 was recovered from the suspects as exhibit.

"The suspects confessed to have so far, lured eight (8) victims via same mode of operation and have made One Million, Three Hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira (proceed of crime) from their victims at different time.The Commissioner of Police, CP Adesina Soyemi has ordered for transfer of the case to State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia for in-depth investigation; upon conclusion, the suspects will be charged to Court for prosecution; and further urged members of the public to be mindful of the kind of friends they make on social media noting that, safety is of paramount importance before pleasure"

175 Nigerians rescued from Libya arrive Lagos

 

 

175 Nigerians said to be stranded in Libya have arrived the country early  Wednesday morning. 

The National Emergency Management Agency NEMA and other agencies   received the fresh batch of 175 stranded Nigerian returnees from Libya. Mr. Ibrahim Farinlonye the Lagos Territorial Office Cordinator of NEMA who represented the Director General of the Agency, Alhaji Mustapha Habib Ahmed   received the returnees on behalf of the federal government.

Mr  Farinlonye said " The returnees arrived the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja aboard Boeing 737-800 Al Buraq Air with registration number 5A-DMG. The flight landed at the airport at about 2350 hours under light rain drops. At the end of profiling and documentation of the returnees, the statistics of the new returnees shows that the female adults are 64, female children are 12 and the infant females are 5 making the total 81 females assisted back into the country by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) with funding from European Union". 

He further added that the profile indicated that male adults are 77, male children 11 and 6 infant males making a total of 94 males were brought back including 4 medical cases, 2 females and 2 males. Other Agencies along with NEMA at the reception for the returnees are NUD, FAAN, NAPTIP, Refugee Commission and the Police
