Man flees after allegedly killing girl for ritual money

 

A young lady identified as Amarachi Iwunze has been found dead  in Agbaghara Nsu Community in Ehime Mbano LGA of Imo state in what appears as a  case of suspected killing of young women for ritual money.

Members of the community have fingered one  Ifeanyi Osuji  allegedly killed Amarachi. 

The police we learnt have arrested  one  Uche Iwunze, a cousin of the decease over the killing as there were allegations that Uche allegedly lured Amarachi to Osuji.

Sources alleged that Osuji  she was allegedly drugged  Amarachi before she was killed while her cousin allegedly held her  phone . 

It was gathered that the efforts to dispose off the corpse led to the arrest of Uche while Osuji fled. 

NSCDC GG's Special Anti- Vandal Unit arrests illegal refinery operators in Delta State.

 

Two women, and two men allegedly involved in the illegal refining of crude oil in Delta State are in the custody of the Commandant General's Special Anti-Vandal Monitoring Unit (SAVMU).

It was gathered that SAVMU dislodged 5 illegal refineries in Delta South Local Government Area of Delta State, where adulterated petroleum products were produced and distributed to unsuspecting users across the country.

The operation was carried out successfully, following a tip off on the nefarious activities of vandals and oil thieves operating a very big camp with about 5 illegal refineries in the area. 

"Two (2) suspects were nabbed during the operation while other collaborators remained at large. The intelligence report however, revealed that the site belongs to three individuals which consist of one ( 1 ) woman and two ( 2 ) other men currently in NSCDC custody and are volunteering information to assist in carrying out further investigation.

The Squad Commander, DCC Brah Umoru Samson, who led the operation, assured Nigerians that the SAVMU will not condone any act of sabotage to the economy and therefore, warned all illegal operators to engage in legitimate business that will not contravene the law or compromise the safety of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure in the country". 

He reiterated that the arrested suspects will be prosecuted according to extant law and the Squad will ensure a total manhunt for those currently on the run. According to him, the illegal refineries and other equipment used for the illicit business has been destroyed, while investigation will be carried out with due diligence to unravel the other criminals connected to the crime for possible prosecution. 

Bishop, wife , driver abducted in Oyo

 

One .Bishop Rt. Rev Aderogba of Jebba Diocese, Kwara State in the Company of his Wife and driver  were abducted on Sunday in Oyo State.

Preliminary investigations by the police  reveals that the Victim's vehicle developed what seemed a mechanical fault while traveling from Yewa, Ogun State to Jebba, Kwara State enroute an isolated area along New Oyo/Ogbomoso Expressway.

Lagos state police spokesperson SP Adewale Osifeso said " The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations of the Command is in Charge of the rescue operation that has commenced since 2100HRS of Sunday 12/06/2022. 

All the tactical teams of the Command  Anti-Kidnapping squad, Ambush Squad, Puff Adder, Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) and Conventional Police personnel  along with local hunters and vigilantes are all involved in the rescue operations.

Meanwhile discreet investigation led by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) is simultaneously been vigorously embarked upon to ensure that the victims are rescued unhurt.While  enjoining  members of the public to report any suspicion to the nearest Police Division or formation, credible and timely information, the General Public are assured of their safety as the go about their lawful activities.

Police to grill Grammy Award Burna Boy over excorts'shooting in Lagos night club

 Grammy award-winning singer, Damini Ogulu, alias Burna Boy,  is going to face interrogation over a shoot incident involving his excorts at a night club in Lagos.  

The spokesperson for the Nigerian Police Force  CSP Muyiwa Adejobi while narrating why the police will grill the singer said  “How could they enter a nightclub with their guns. Even at that, how did the singer get five policemen attached to him?

“The IGP has ordered the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to investigate the matter and send a report of the investigation to Force Headquarters.

“All those involved in the incident will be questioned. I believe that by now an invitation letter would have been sent to Burna Boy. I understand he is not in the country right now, but will be questioned when he is back.”

Dailytrust reported that five police escorts attached to the singer have since been arrested and are being detained at the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja.

The five policemen were arrested over their involvement in the shooting incident at Cubana Night Club on Victoria Island in which two persons were injured.

A police source said Burna Boy jetted out of Nigeria immediately after the incident, but that the invitation had been communicated to him to report to the command upon arrival from his trip.

Ogun Govt. Frees 40 inmates, six convicts on death row get life imprisonment 

As part of activities commemorating the 2023 Democracy Day, Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, has approved the committal of six convicts on death row to life imprisonment and also released 40 inmates.

 

According to Champion news, the governor made the pronouncement on Sunday while speaking at the June 12 commemorative anniversary and Nigeria’s Democracy Day, held at the M.K.O International Stadium, Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.

 

He explained that the committal to life imprisonment and release of the convicted inmates is in accordance with the provisions of Sections 212 (1) and (2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, (as amended) and Sections 4 and 5 of the Ogun State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy (Establishment Law), Laws of Ogun State 2006.

 

Abiodun, who called on Nigerians to draw strength from the 1993 general election and make the 2023 exercise even better, equally advocated stringent punishment for violators of due process in elections, declaring that

people’s ballots must count and be respected in 2023.

 

The governor noted that the struggles of June 12 as orchestrated by late MKO Abiola gave birth to the seamless democracy Nigeria has enjoyed in the last 29 years, emphasising that  “only by upholding the tenets of democracy and ensuring its sustainability that we can truly honour the memory of those ideals that Chief MKO Abiola and others stood and died for”.

 

While saying that the process to a free, fair and credible election begins, among other things, with voters’ participation in the registration exercise, Abiodun stressed that for the 2023 general elections to be a huge success, every eligible Nigerian must register to vote and actually take part in voting on the day of election.

 

“While it is heart-warming to note that in the last 29 years, we have enjoyed seamless civilian-to-civilian transition, it is only by upholding the tenets of democracy and ensuring its sustainability that we can truly honour the memory of those ideals that Chief MKO Abiola and others stood and died for. People’s ballots must count and be respected, while violators of due process in elections ought to be dealt the full wrath of the law.

 

“If the ideals matter to us, religion and ethnicity too should not become campaign issues or determinants of who gets what, when, how in our body-politic or become primary considerations in our leadership recruitment and governance processes. I can envision how these Nigerians who gave their all would be cringing in their graves seeing us celebrating divisive vices and our do-or-die politicking”, the governor stated.

 

He urged political leaders and followers to keep hope and fairplay  alive in democracy, tasking them to fashion a way to ensure that will make democracy in Nigeria a means to an end, not an end in itself.

 

Abiodun further charged Nigerians to internalise democratic values and

IGP deploys 4 AIGs, 3 CPs, PMF Commanders,operational assets  for peaceful gubernatorial election in Ekiti State 

In a bid to boost the security architecture in Ekiti State towards a secured and peaceful govership election, the  Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba  has ordered the mobilization and deployment of adequate police personnel, Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), technical capabilities of the Police Airwing, the Force Marine, Mounted Troops, K-9 Section, and other operational assets for the Ekiti State Gubernatorial Elections slated for 18th June, 2022. 

The Nigeria police force spokesperson, IGP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said "  includes the deployment of selected seasoned Strategic Commanders from the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police and above for effective supervision of security personnel and operations in the Election. The IGP noted that the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) who is the supervisory DIG for the South-West Geo-Political Zone, DIG Johnson Babatunde Kokumo, psc(+), mni, has been deployed to Ekiti State as the Coordinator of the security component for the Election. 

DIG Kokumo is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Operation Order evolved from the Election Security Threat Assessment, to ensure a peaceful and conducive environment devoid of violence and to guarantee law abiding citizens of secured freely perform their civic responsibilities without molestation or intimidation. DIG Kokumo will be assisted by four (4) Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs), three (3) Commissioners of Police (CPs), five (5) Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) and eighteen (18) Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs). The Senior Officers are to coordinate human and other operational deployments in the three (3) Senatorial Districts, sixteen (16) Local Government Areas and the 2445 polling units in Ekiti State. 

The IGP noted that the Force has carried out these necessary operational deployments as part of actions aimed at creating a conducive and enabling environment that will guarantee the peaceful and proper conduct of the election in Ekiti State. The IGP further noted that the personnel, comprising conventional police officers, Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Special Forces personnel, Explosives Ordinance Unit (EOD), Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB), INTERPOL, Special Protection Unit (SPU), Force Public Relations Department (FPRD), as well as Police Medical Teams, will be on ground to guarantee free, fair, credible and acceptable election. In addition, five (5) Armored Personnel Carriers for patrol as well as four (4) helicopters and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for aerial surveillance amongst other unique operational capabilities.  

The IGP reassures the nation and the international community that the Force is adequately prepared for the Gubernatorial Election in Ekiti State which is scheduled to hold  on June 18, 2022. He reiterates that the Force will do everything within its powers to work with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and all stakeholders to protect democratic values, provide level playing field for all political actors, ensure adequate protection of voters, INEC officials, equipment, accredited observers, both domestic and international, and other key players in Ekiti State. The IGP therefore admonishes the good people of Ekiti State to be law-abiding and comply with the restriction of movement order which will be announced by the Commissioner of Police as and when due. The IGP equally calls on the Good people of Ekiti State to come out en masse and exercise their franchise as adequate security has been emplaced by the Police and other security agencies to protect them before, during and after the election. 

Man kills self, after shooting wife, mother-in-law, abducts baby ,

 41-year-old Nigerian, Obinna Igbokwe, in Texas, United States, shot his wife, Tangela Igbokwe, killed her mother and fled to North Texas with their three-month-old son, Mansa, before finally killing himself.

Igbokwe lived in Spring, Montgomery County of Dallas, Texas.

According to the U.S. police, Obinna Igbokwe and his wife argued over the custody of the couple’s three-month-old son Mansa.

The nicheng reports that the argument according to the police led to the shooting.

Igbokwe shot his wife and her mother point blank, in the head.

The wife, who survived the shooting is, however, said to be in critical condition in the hospital.

But her mother, Linda Larkins, who was also shot in the head was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police authorities said the suspect’s 14-year-old son might have witnessed the shootings and went next door to get help.

Obinna Igbokwe reportedly took their son and fled in a 2008 white Honda Accord.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deputies thereafter raised an AMBER Alert, which was, however discontinued after the suspect shot and killed himself.

The shooting happened in the 30120 block of Aldine Westfield Road around 7.30 p.m.

According to the Corsicana Police Department, Igbokwe dropped off the child in a car seat at a hotel and said he would be right back, but never returned.

Since he did not return, police said they were contacted and learned the man left in a white passenger car.

At about 1.05 a.m., Ennis Police Department officers said they located the white Honda Igbokwe was driving and attempted to stop the vehicle.

After a short pursuit, the Honda stopped in a parking lot, where officers observed and heard a single gunshot come from the interior of the Honda.

Law enforcement officers began life-saving measures and summoned medical personnel, but due to the severity of the injury, authorities said Igbokwe succumbed to his wounds at a Dallas hospital at about 5.20 a.m.

Authorities said Mansa is safe and unharmed and has been reunited with his family.

“Our hearts are with the family affected by this tragic and horrific crime and we are working with the victims to ensure they receive support and assistance,” a Facebook post from MCSO said.

This investigation is being completed across multiple jurisdictions and involves the Corsicana Police Department, Ennis Police Department, Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, and the Montgomery
