Delta CP, Immigration Comptroller Strengthen Security Partnership

The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Delta State Police Command to strengthening collaboration with sister security agencies as part of efforts to enhance security across the state.

The police commissioner made the commitment while receiving the Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Delta State Command, C.I. Christiana Solo-Akora, and members of her management team during a courtesy visit to the Police Command Headquarters in Asaba on Tuesday.

The visit provided a platform for both security agencies to discuss ways of deepening cooperation, improving intelligence sharing, and enhancing coordinated efforts aimed at addressing security challenges and strengthening border management within the state.

Speaking during the meeting, CP Oyeniyi commended the Nigeria Immigration Service for its critical role in national security, particularly in migration control and border surveillance.

He noted that effective collaboration among security agencies remains essential in combating crime and other emerging security threats, stressing that the police command would continue to work closely with the Immigration Service and other stakeholders to ensure the safety of residents.

The commissioner emphasized that information sharing and joint operational strategies are vital to achieving lasting peace and security, adding that collective efforts by all security agencies are necessary to safeguard lives and property across Delta State.

Earlier, the Delta State Comptroller of Immigration, C.I. Christiana Solo-Akora, said the visit was aimed at strengthening the existing relationship between the Immigration Service and the Police, while exploring avenues for greater cooperation in the discharge of their statutory responsibilities.

The meeting ended with both agencies reaffirming their commitment to sustained partnership in support of national security objectives and effective service delivery to the people of Delta State.
