The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, on Sunday personally visited the residence of retired Ogun State Television (OGTV) broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku, where she and her security guard were found dead under suspicious circumstances.
The police chief's visit underscored the seriousness with which the command is treating the tragic incident that has sent shockwaves across Ogun State and the media community.
According to the Ogun State Police Command, the incident was reported at the Owode Egba Division after a resident of Iyana Agodo Village raised concerns over suspicious activities at the deceased's residence.
Following the report, detectives were deployed to the scene, where preliminary investigations revealed signs of forced entry and disturbance. During a thorough search of the premises, the body of the security guard was discovered inside the security post, while Ms. Oyesiku's corpse was later found in her apartment. Her vehicle was also found to be missing from the premises.
CP Ojajuni, who visited the crime scene to assess the situation firsthand, directed detectives to immediately commence a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths. He also ordered the deployment of intelligence and tactical assets to track down those responsible for the killings.
The Commissioner assured residents that the command would spare no effort in unraveling the mystery behind the incident and ensuring that all those connected with the crime are brought to justice.
As part of ongoing efforts, surveillance and intelligence-led operations have been intensified across relevant locations, while investigators continue to gather evidence and pursue leads.
CP Ojajuni expressed condolences to the family of the deceased broadcaster, the management and staff of Ogun State Television (OGTV), and members of the media community affected by the tragic loss.
He further appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with investigators by providing any useful information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.
The Ogun State Police Command said the investigation remains active and that updates will be provided as significant breakthroughs are recorded.
