A gang of armed robbers who have their operational base in the Mushin area of Lagos have revealed how a 25year old Sales boy Peter Okenu allegedly approached and recruited them to rob his boss in Ogun state.
The gang following their arrest stated that Okenu who was in-charge of his boss’s shop at Sango area in Ogun state met them and gave the description of his boss' residence.
Narrating how they carried out the operation it was learnt that following a painstaking investigation embarked upon by detectives from Ifo divisional headquarters who has been on the trail of the robbery gang since 17th of December 2020 when the case was reported, Okenu's boss identifed as Stephen Anyi reported at Ifo police station on the said date that his house situated at Kajola phase 2 area of Ifo was invaded at about 2:00am by a 7 man robbery gang who were armed with guns, cutlasses and axe.
He added that the gang held him and his family hostage before dispossessing them of cash sum of #150,000, his laptop, phones, plasma television and his Toyota highlander with registration number KJA 38 FZ which they used in carting the stolen items.
Upon the report, the Divisional Police Office Ifo, CSP Adeniyi Adekunle and his detectives traced the hoodlums to Mushin area of Lagos State where they were about to dispose the Toyota highlander and arrested four members of the gang identified as Ibrahim Arowolo 24 Sowemimo Farouk 18, Yusuf Azeez 23 and Yakubu Ibrahim 31.
The police recovered a Toyota Highlander with registration number KJA 38 FZ, one locally made single barrel cut-to-size gun, one locally made double barrel pistol, 3 cutlasses and four different types of phones.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward A. Ajogun praised the policemen and directed that the case be transferred to the Violent Crime Intervention Unit of the State criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation. He also ordered that the remaining members of the gang be arrested.
