91 gender based crime , 91 murders recorded in Lagos 

---- as  police arrest 1000 criminals in three months

It was  harvest of criminals on Monday when the Lagos State police command paraded over 1000  suspected persons for crimes ranging from armed robbery , cultism, murder , kidnapping  among others.

The Lagos State police boss CP Hakeem Odumosu while giving a breakdown of the achievements of the command during a press conference said the arrests were made  between January and March 2021.

He stated that ninety one gender based cases as well as ninety one murders were reported in the state within the period. 

According to the Lagos State Police command two hundred and thirty four suspected armed  robbers were  arrested, three hundred and forty-three suspected cultists, two hundred ,ninety-one people were murdered, while two hundred and thirty-five arms and two hundred and sixty-five ammunition were recovered during the period in the State.

seventy-five robbery operations were foiled, while two hundred and thirty-two stolen vehicles were recovered,ninety one rape and defilement cases were reported while one hundred and twenty seven gender based cases were reported. 

More so, he disclosed that the command raided and arrested 1,592 suspected hoodlums in the first quarter of 2021, while 532 motorists were arrested for traffic offences ,seized 2,953 okadas for violating traffic law, 103 fatal accidents were recorded ,82 vehicles were impounded for driving against the flow of traffic, while 509 vehicles were also impounded for violating COVID-19 curfew.

He added that 22 clubs and bars were raided during the period, just as 997 suspects were arrested for violating COVID-19 protocols, while 184 motorcycles and 10 tricycles were recovered.

Within the same period, 3,258 cases were charged to court by the police in the last three months, with 1,107 people convicted and fined.

According to him, “within the period under review, January-Mid March, 2021, the Command has harnessed all resources within its reach and instituted proactive strategies to enforce laws and orders in all areas which include traffic, criminal and health related issues, especially COVID-19 protocols in the state.

“It is not out of point to also state that the efforts of the command have paid off in suppressing various criminal activities as well as traffic lawlessness by recalcitrant drivers, Motorcyclists and hoodlums who have been causing mayhem and engaging in other criminal acts like cultism, armed robbery, land grabbing, gangsterism, hooliganism, sexual abuses and domestic violence.

CP Odumosu said the state police would continue to do everything in its power to fight crime and bring it to a minimal state.

 Gregory Imafidon Foundation brings 22 schools to battle for gold cup trophy

 The 4th edition of the Gregory Imafidon Foundation youth football championship  is set to kick off in Benin City Edo State Nigeria .

The championship slated to hold from March 24th to April 1st 2021 at the Garik School field along Ekenwa Road Benin City   will have twenty two secondary schools  participating for the gold cup, scholarships and other prizes. 

The tournament sponsored by Mr. Gregory Imafidon an Edo State-born ex-youth footballer and  practicing Family Nurse Practitioner based in Dallas, Texas, USA  said the 4th edition of the football tournament tagged “Catch them young, kick against crime” will go a long way in reviving school sports in Edo State as well as checking vices like cultism in secondary schools. 

Mr. Imafidon said “The aim of this tournament is to bring back school sports in Edo State , engage these children  meaningfully  to help reduce the rate of crime like cultism .On behalf of the vulnerable youths in Edo State, I say thank you to all who have seen the need to make Edo State a better and a crime-free State by contributing towards the success of this move. We cannot afford to lose any more youth to crime.  The lives of our youth are valuable'".

He added that  aside the gold cup for the winning school, other prizes to be won  include " A golden ball with cash prize for the best player, cash prize for highest goal scorer, best behaved or disciplined school, best goalkeeper, best defender and best midfielder"

It can be recalled that  previous editions which  targeted youth clubs, saw young footballers  from Edo, Delta, Rivers, Cross Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, Oyo, Ondo, Ogun, Osun, Anambra, Imo, and Abia States going home with scholarships , cash, jerseys among other incentives to boost their  education and personal development.

HOW HERBARLIST, BRICKLAYER  ROASTED  HOUSEWIFE , SON FOR MONEY RITUAL

Police detectives have unravelled the mystery behind the disappearance of a housewife and her son. 
It was gathered that the housewife one Mrs Modupeola Folorunsho and her 4 year old son went missing about two weeks ago which prompted the police upon repon by her husband to begin a search for them. 
Unfortunately, unknown to her family, a 29 years old herbalist Baoku Gbuyi and a 27 years old Briccklayer Olamide Odulaja  have abducted and killed her and her son  for money making ritual.
DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi Spokesperson for the Ogun State Police command said " The arrest of the suspects following a report received at Ijebu Igbo division, from the victim's husband, who reported on 14th of February 2021 that his wife and his son went out since the previous day and yet to return, and that efforts to locate her and the little boy didn't yield any positive result.
Upon the report, a case of missing person was incidented, and the DPO Ijebu Igbo division SP Kazeem Solotan  detailed his crack detectives to unravel the mystery behind the sudden disappearance of the woman and her son
The detectives there and then embarked on technical and intelligence based investigation, which led them to the arrest of Olamide Odulaja at Ibadan. On interrogation, Olamide confessed that he and one herbalist abducted the victim and her son on the 13 of February 2021, and that the victim and her son were killed for money ritual at the house of the said herbalist. He stated further that, it was the herbalist who burnt the woman's head which he used for him.
 Upon his confession, detectives went after the herbalist who resides at Araromi street Japara Ijebu Igbo.
On getting to his resident, it was discovered that the herbalist has took to flight having heard about the arrest of Olamide. Subsequently, all the adjoining divisions were alerted to be on look out for the fleeing suspect. He was eventually traced to Kajola village, where he was arrested by the DPO Awa Ijebu with the assistance of hunters and local vigilantes" 
"On interrogation, the herbalist confessed that it was Olamide Odulaja who approached him for money making ritual following which he asked him to bring a head of human being as one of the material to be used. He stated further that they both conspired to abduct the woman and her son and slaughter them for that purpose. He confessed further that he burnt the woman's head with some other herb material which he gave to Olamide to use. When asked about the little boy, he said that his head and remains was dumped inside a pit latrine.
The commissioner of police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun, who commended his men for their display of investigative intelligence has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and diligent prosecution"
The CP who described the incident as the height of man inhumanity to man, warned those who are out looking for money making ritual to desist as only hardwork backed with prayer can lead to success

22 Schools battle for Gregory Imafidon Foundation Gold Cup

 School sport development has been given a boost as the 4th edition of the Gregory Imafidon Foundation youth football championship  is set to kick off in Benin City Edo State Nigeria .


The championship slated to hold from March 24th to April 1st 2021 will have twenty two secondary schools in Edo State participating for the gold cup, scholarships and other prizes. 


The tournament sponsored by Mr. Gregory Imafidon an Edo State-born ex-youth footballer and  practicing Family Nurse Practitioner based in Dallas, Texas, USA  said the 4th edition of the football tournament tagged “Catch them young, kick against crime” will go a long way in reviving school sports in Edo State as well as checking vices like cultism in secondary schools. 


Mr. Imafidon said “The aim of this tournament is to bring back school sports in Edo State , engage these children  meaningfully  to help reduce the rate of crime like cultism .On behalf of the vulnerable youths in Edo State, I say thank you to all who have seen the need to make Edo State a better and a crime-free State by contributing towards the success of this move. We cannot afford to lose any more youth to crime.  The lives of our youth are valuable'".


He added that  aside the gold cup for the winning school, other prizes to be won  include " A golden ball with cash prize for the best player, cash prize for highest goal scorer, best behaved or disciplined school, best goalkeeper, best defender and best midfielder"

Urging other well meaning sons and daughters of Edo State at home and abroad to key into the initiative , Mr Imafidon calls  for donations .


"In our bid to contribute our quota to help reduce the crime rate in Edo State,we are requesting sponsors and donation   from groups and individuals who are willing to help and positively touch the lives of our youth through empowerment and scholarship donation. Nothing is too small " he said. 


It can  be recalled that two outstanding players, Emeka Utomi of Ine Stars FC and Efe Ugiagbe of Unique  FC were given scholarship during  previous edition in 2018/2019  donated by Mr. Imafidon  and another ex-youth footballer, Nosa Odiase, based in Sweden.

Nursing mother, nurses detained for allegedly procuring abortion for 16 years old girl.

A  nursing mother Mrs Aninat Sodiq has been detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department SCID Panti Yaba for allegedly procuring abortion for her 16 year old house help. 
It was gathered that the case was initially reported at the Bariga division. 
Sources said this was the second attempt at abortion on the survivor who was allegedly raped serially by one Ibrahim ,brother in law of Mrs. Sodiq. 


Condemning act, Mr. Ebenezer Omejalile Coordinator for Advocates For Children And Vulnerable Persons Network ( ACVPN) said " From what we gathered the survivor has been abused by Ibrahim and an abortion was procured the first time .This is the second time and they injected her to get the baby out and putting her and the baby at risk . The Survivor is a 16 year old  primary  school girl.  It is sad that someone can do this to a child she is supposed to protect". 
It was gathered that the survivor has been placed in a home while alleged perpetrator Ibrahim, the nurses who allegedly procured the abortion are being detained alongside Mrs. Sodiq.
