NURTW FCT COUNCIL CARETAKER COMMITTEE INAUGURATED

 

The President of the  National Union of Road Transport Worker (NURTW) Alhaji Ibikunle Tajudeen Baruwa today March 18th, 2025 inaugurated the NURTW Federal Capital Territory Council Caretaker Committee.

The NURTW FCT Council Caretaker Committee was inaugurated after the dissolution of the previous caretaker committee following the crisis which rocked the Union in 2023.

Presenting certificate to the Chairman of the NURTW FCT Council Caretaker Committee, Comrade Usmar Abubakar , the President Alhaji Baruwa urged the Caretaker Committee members to work for the progress of the Union in the FCT and urged all members to cooperate with them.

Alhaji Baruwa stated that the NURTW under his leadership is a law abiding one and will continue to promote peace in the Union and in the country. 

He said  ' We thank Almighty Allah for making today a reality. Today's inauguration is another era in the Union. The NURTW is for peace and we do not have any problem with anybody. You can see what happened today. Everybody that came for this inauguration is laughing and clapping. We did not force anybody to be here . You cannot force your members  to follow you. They follow because they are interested . We will continue to promote peace . What we did today is  in accordance with the Constitution of the Union .

Alhaji Baruwa while  urging the NURTW  FCT Council  Committee members to remain law abiding stated that development can only take place  when there is peace and unity in the country.  He said  '' The Caretaker Chairman of the NURTW  FCT Council  should carry the members  along and the members  should cooperate with the Chairman''. 

Alhaji Baruwa also urged all NURTW members in the country to shun violence and follow the rule of law.

 He said '' I as the President of the NURTW , I am for the rule of law . I appeal to all our members  to calm down . We have a judgment in our hands and with our   judgment we  have inaugurated  the Caretaker committee of the  NURTW FCT  Council  today and tomorrow, we will inaugurate that of Jos NURTW Caretaker Committee  and that of other states will follow .  I want all our members to follow the steps we have taken today. I want them to be peace loving and  law abiding especially in  this democracy era''
